Free Space Optics Communication(FSOC) Technology
ERNET India has successfully implemented the MeitY funded pilot project wherein “Free Space Optics Communication Technology (FSOC)” based link was established between Kohima Science College and Kohima Secretariat, Nagaland with the overall objective of providing the high speed network connectivity. Free Space Optics is a line-of-sight technology that uses invisible beams of light to provide optical bandwidth connections that can send and receive voice, video, and data information. This optical connectivity doesn't require expensive fiber-optic cable or securing spectrum licenses for radio frequency (RF) solutions. Within the scope of the project, existing Kohima Secretariat office NKN / SWAN connectivity was extended by Free Space Optics Link (FSOL) from Kohima Secretariat to Kohima Science College. The established connectivity at Science College has been further extended to labs of Kohima Science College and getting utilized by students and teachers |
